ULTRA-THIN INSULATION EXPLAINED
What Is ISO-THERM Wall Insulation?

ISO-THERM is an ultra-thin thermal insulation material designed for use on suitable internal walls.

Manufactured using specially structured non-woven polyester fabric with a flame-retardant acrylic coating, the material is flexible, lightweight and approximately 4mm thick.

It is bonded to correctly prepared wall surfaces using the specified ISO-THERM adhesive system.

The installed insulation can then receive a compatible plaster skim, creating a smooth finish ready for decoration.

This approach allows thermal performance to be improved without the substantial thickness associated with many traditional insulation boards.

Why Choose ISO-THERM?
  • Only 4mm insulation thickness
  • Flexible and easy to cut
  • Lightweight polyester construction
  • Suitable for plaster skim finishing
  • Can be fitted to sound plastered walls
  • Helps improve internal wall temperatures
  • Useful in condensation-prone areas
  • Designed for minimal disruption
  • Low overall system thickness
ISO-THERM THERMAL PERFORMANCE
Big Benefits From Ultra-Thin Insulation

ISO-THERM has demonstrated improved thermal performance in a tested wall assembly. Actual results depend on existing wall construction and installation conditions.

4mm Material Thickness Ultra-thin thermal insulation layer
21.6% Tested U-Value Reduction Improvement for the reported wall assembly
10mm Approx. Installed Thickness Including adhesive and plaster skim
Understanding the 21.6% Thermal Improvement

Under the supplied test conditions, the wall U-value reduced from 1.898 W/m²K to 1.488 W/m²K.

This is a reduction in heat transmission through that particular tested wall construction.

It should not be interpreted as a guaranteed 21.6% reduction in household heating bills, or as an identical improvement for every type of wall.

COLD WALLS AND CONDENSATION
ISO-THERM for Cold Walls and Condensation Risk

Cold external-facing walls can be prone to condensation, particularly where indoor humidity is high.

When warm indoor air comes into contact with a sufficiently cold surface, water vapour may condense.

Persistently damp surfaces can encourage surface mould growth and deterioration of decorative finishes.

ISO-THERM helps improve internal wall thermal performance, potentially increasing surface temperatures and reducing condensation risk under suitable conditions.

The material also demonstrated no fungal growth during the stated four-week laboratory test.

This does not guarantee that finished walls will remain mould-free regardless of humidity and ventilation.

Typical Areas to Consider
  • Cold external-facing bedroom walls
  • Living room walls
  • Older solid-wall properties
  • Window and door reveals
  • Condensation-prone wall areas
  • Residential refurbishment projects
  • Commercial property improvements
  • Rooms where space is restricted
ISO-THERM INSTALLATION
How Is ISO-THERM Installed?

A straightforward installation process on suitable sound wall substrates, using the correct bonding and finishing materials.

01
Prepare the Wall

Confirm that the wall is sound, stable and suitable. Remove loose material, investigate damp defects and complete necessary repairs before installation.

02
Apply the Adhesive

Trowel the specified ISO-THERM adhesive onto the wall, typically to an approximate thickness of 5mm, following the current system instructions.

03
Fix the Insulation

Position the flexible ISO-THERM material onto the adhesive. Cut around suitable wall features and ensure proper contact and joint treatment according to the installation guide.

Final Stage – Plaster & Decorate

Once bonded and sufficiently cured, the insulation can receive a compatible plaster skim of approximately 2–3mm.

After the plaster has dried, apply suitable decorative finishes.

All preparation, bonding, curing and finishing should follow the manufacturer's current installation guidance.

ISO-THERM ROLL COVERAGE
How Much ISO-THERM Do You Need?

Each listed roll measures 0.95 metres wide by 7.5 metres long.

Rolls / Kit Areas Nominal Coverage Suggested Planning Use
1 7.125m² Small wall area
2 14.25m² One or more larger walls
3 21.375m² Several internal walls
4 28.5m² Larger room renovation
5 35.625m² Multi-room project

The figures above represent nominal insulation area, before cutting, joints, trimming, openings and wastage. The number of kits or rolls required may vary by layout.

Example – Insulating a 20m² Wall Area

Each roll covers approximately 7.125m².

20 ÷ 7.125 = 2.81

You would therefore need at least 3 rolls or 3 equivalent kit areas to cover 20m² before wastage.

Check the actual wall dimensions and cutting requirements before ordering.

BREATHABLE INSULATION
Vapour-Permeable Yet Water-Resistant

ISO-THERM is designed to allow water vapour movement while providing resistance to liquid water passage through the insulation material.

This makes it a useful option for suitable internal thermal improvement projects where moisture behaviour is important.

However, waterproof material characteristics do not make the complete wall assembly an independently certified waterproofing system.

Penetrating damp, leaking plumbing, defective roofing and other sources of unwanted moisture should be repaired before installation.

Existing wall construction and moisture conditions should be assessed to avoid concealed condensation risks.

Before Installing ISO-THERM
  • Confirm wall condition
  • Investigate existing damp problems
  • Check for water ingress
  • Repair loose or damaged plaster
  • Use the correct system adhesive
  • Plan around sockets and reveals
  • Allow for ventilation and humidity
  • Choose compatible finishing materials
